Frequently asked questions
What is ceremonial cacao?
Ceremonial cacao is whole cacao beans that are fermented, roasted, and ground into a paste, with the natural cacao butter kept in. It is minimally processed and traditionally prepared as a warm drink.
How does it compare with cocoa powder or hot chocolate?
Cocoa powder has most of the cacao butter removed and is often alkalized, and hot chocolate mixes usually add sugar. Kampura ceremonial cacao is 100% whole-bean cacao.
Does it contain caffeine?
Cacao naturally contains theobromine and a small amount of caffeine, much less than a cup of coffee.
What does the heirloom designation mean?
The Heirloom Cacao Preservation Fund recognizes cacao with exceptional flavor and distinctive genetics. Kampura holds Designation #17.
Is it tested for heavy metals?
Yes. We test our cacao periodically for heavy metals, and results are available on request.
Do you offer bulk or wholesale pricing?
