Making Ceremonial Cacao Without a Blender

A simple stovetop method using Kampura Organic Ceremonial Cacao Blocks or Flakes

Many ceremonial cacao recipes suggest using a blender to create a creamy drink. But you can easily prepare cacao with just a saucepan and a whisk.

Because Kampura Organic Ceremonial Cacao is stone-ground cacao paste, it melts smoothly when gently heated with liquid.

This method works perfectly whether you use our:

  • ceremonial cacao blocks (chopped with a knife)

  • ceremonial cacao flakes

Ingredients (1 serving)

  • 2 generous tablespoons Kampura Organic Ceremonial Cacao

  • 1/2 cup liquid

Liquid options:

  • Water (traditional preparation)

  • Whole milk

  • Oat milk

  • Almond milk

  • Coconut milk

Optional:

  • Sweetener (honey, maple syrup, or sugar)

  • Pinch of cinnamon or vanilla

  • Small pinch of sea salt

Instructions

1. Warm the liquid

Add the liquid to a small saucepan and heat over low to medium heat.

Do not boil.

2. Add cacao

Add 2 generous tablespoons of chopped cacao or cacao flakes.

3. Whisk continuously

Whisk for 1–2 minutes until the cacao melts fully.

A small whisk works best, but a spoon works too.

4. Adjust thickness

If the drink becomes too thick, add a splash of additional liquid.

5. Serve

Pour into a mug and enjoy immediately.

Tips for Smooth Cacao

Chop blocks finely. Smaller pieces melt faster.

Use gentle heat. High heat can cause cacao to separate.

Whisk steadily. This helps emulsify the natural cacao butter into the liquid.

Why Kampura Cacao Works Well for This Method

Because Kampura cacao is 100% pure organic cacao paste, the natural cocoa butter melts easily and creates a smooth drink without requiring a blender.
