Certified-organic Cardamom (USA & EU)
A shade-loving spice grown under native canopy—certified organic (US & EU).
Guatemala is a global cardamom leader, and our region proved ideal once we trialed under-canopy plantings with our neighbors. Cardamom thrives in cool, filtered light, so we established it beneath mahogany, rosewood, and natural rubber, creating another productive layer in our agroforestry system.
Grown with the community, this crop diversifies farmer income, adds living cover to protect soils and waterways, and uses tree shade instead of intensive inputs. The result is fragrant, high-quality cardamom linked to long-term forest health.
Guatemala is the second largest exporter of Cardamom in the world.
We did not know that our region could produce this valuable spice. With the help of the local community we started a trial plantation and are surprised with the result. This crop needs shade in order to thrive so we used our Mahogany and Rosewood plantation as shade trees to develop another agroforestry plantation. We wish to inspire our neighbor communities to use valuable timber species for their plantations. This will increase the amount of trees in the region and help mitigate global warming.
